Scott Walker's Trip to Ireland

Elle and I went over to Greensboro's First (and only) Moravian Church this weekend and hung out with Scott Walker and his amazing young players! The Ireland Performance Tour Group played featuring student musicians that traveled to Ireland this summer. They played a variety of traditional Irish and American tunes.

Scott's passion for the kids and the music was great and a good time was had by all!

Scott Pryor in Greensboro.

My friend Scott Pryor will be back in Greensboro playing downtoun at the Green Bean on Friday, October 6th at 8:30 pm. He'll go on at around 9:30.

Scott has wonderful music and always with a message. Hope you check him out!

A Voice In Jena

I listened to Pastor Eddie Thompson of the Sanctuary Family Worship Center on NPR yesterday and appreciated his honesty and integrity in confronting the issues found in Jena Louisiana.

I appreciate the engagement of the faith communities in these situations and I'm glad to see the dialogue and leadership of Pastor Eddie.

Claudette Burroughs-White Remembered

My fondest memory of Claudette was when I ran for the Board of Commissioners in 1998. She talked with me about running and then she just gazed and smiled. She said, "When I look at you I don't know if I want to vote for you or just squeeze your cheeks and pat you on the backside". (Referring to my youth!) We all laughed.

I told her she could do all three and support me. Well, she supported me an' no comment on the rest!

I'll miss you Claudette and your family is in my prayers.

Steve Arnold in News and Record

I hope that citizens will withhold judgement on this situation on the front page of the News and Record today and recognize that this is a business issue that seems to have a long history.

Yes, it is no secret that Steve has been a foil to the Democrats on the Board of Commissioners for a very long time. But I have known Steve to have a high level of integrity even though I have disagreed with him on political issues on many occasions.

Let's hope this situations gets resolved quickly for all parties involved consistent with whatever the law requires.
