The New Computer System Lives!!!!
The Guilford County Register of Deeds successfully launched their new computer software system through Business Information Systems (BIS) on Monday, July, 17th at 8 am.
The BIS software system replaces the original Guilford County mainframe model that functioned for 24 years. A tremendous amount of public involvement, interdepartmental collaboration, and preparation helped the project go as planned and on-schedule. According to Jeff Thigpen, Guilford County Register of Deeds, the transition in technology has been long overdue and will benefit the public in many ways.
Immediate benefits for the public include: Real Estate Images and Index Books availability from 1771-Present; Web access 24 hours a day; and Online Marriage Application and Marriage Kiosks in the Greensboro and High Point offices. Professional users will also have the conveniences of dual screen monitors, escrow accounts, and web support directly through Business Information Systems. The BIS software system will now be in both Guilford and Forsyth counties.
Guilford County Register of Deeds staff are shown gathered for the first recording in the Greensboro office.

Second Leg of Conversion is Complete
Vitals and Real Estate conversions appear to be complete with no major issues. GO-Live is still a go ahead.
While more is needed to be done in Greensboro and High Point offices, things are looking positive for Monday.

The data conversion for the new computer system is under way between ROD, Guilford County IS, and Business Information Systems (BIS). The first portion of the conversion has gone well. We will be evaluating the next phase of the process this afternoon around 5 pm.
There are SOOO MANY issues involved in this transition. Our staff have been working hard as well as the vendor. More updates to come!

The Rawandan "Anne Frank"
In the spring of 1994, more than one million people were murdered in the Rwandan genocide. This is the story of how Immaculee survived certain death, along with seven other women, by hiding in a very small bathroom for more than 3 months. Day after day, for months, the killers would search nearby – gleefully chanting “kill them big, kill them small, kill them, kill them, kill them all!”
I met Immaculee Ilibagiza through a television interview tonight. She has an unbelievable and courageous story. A story of faith, hope, and forgiveness that we all need to hear.
Her book is Left to Tell Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust. I strongly recommend it.
The Left to Tell Foundation has been created to place Rwandan orphans and help chidren in Africa.
