Lee Street Corridor Project Great News!
I lived in Glenwood for about 3 years and the Lee Street Corridor Project is great news for that area. There was a public hearing last night on the effort.
Mike Kirkman, fellow UNC-G MPA grad, brings planning experience that understands the diverse residential populations along the need to facilitate private investment. I'm excited to see his participation in the project and support it 1000%! Mike spent several years in High Point and I'm pleased to see his leadership and passion. This project can make a REAL difference in Greensboro. Mike Barber, former commissioner and current City Councilman, raised the issue several years ago. We discussed Lee Street in a broader development scheme, but I like to see this focus on the Lee Street area specifically.
I believe the timing is right and look forward to following the process!

Wow, thanks for the great plug and I hope we'll be able to live up to everyone's expectations. We've got a webpage for this Plan up (it's in the comprehensive planning section of the Planning Department webpage at the moment) if you want to link to it for future updates. I'm also pulling together mailing and email lists of interested persons.
There's definitely a lot of interest in this area and along with the Glenwood Neighborhood Plan being developed by our Housing and Community Development Department hopefully we'll see some good stuff happen in the not too distant future.
Thanks,
Mike K.
